puiutule esti tare obosita,pui prea mult in munca pe care o faci o sa gasesti un alt fel de munca care o sa ti placa si atunci se shimba situatia.Sa stii ca munca numai pentru bani da senzatia asta,o rotita la periferia unui angrenaj.Nu stiu cit ai reusit sa cunosti colegii tai de servici dar peste tot sunt oameni interesanti si te uimesti cite se pot gasi in spatele unor fete comune. te iubesc puiutule

Well one of the (verbal) replies I got to this comment the other day was that it doesn’t sound too bad; the guy probably just wanted to get to know me, because ‘how else would he get to know you unless he says hi, and what other chance does he have?’ But I honestly don’t think that this kind of approach would ever have any good outcomes. I mean, it’s highly improbable that a woman who respects herself enough would be at all flattered by a man chasing her on the street, asking to be her boyfriend. It would probably just frighten her. Plus, even if the man does want to simply ‘get to know’ the woman, what other reasons would he have, other than sexual ones? (i hope this thought doesn’t scare you too much thinking back about the homosexual trying to chat you up in the holy place)

And I would probably have to agree with you on it being a common thing in Italy. I have never been there myself, but do I know a few Italian men who find that very normal and amusing.

That kind of thing is commonplace in Italy. An English girl i knew in Italy went out in a very short dress, and was pursued by a total stranger, who kept asking for her phone number and saying he could be her boyfriend. She politely replied that she already had one but to no avail, he chased her for some time. Though the Italian method, while it must be annoying (i had a huge gay guy pester me for 15 minutes in a cathedral of all places, so can easily imagine how annoying women might find these crude wooings) is fairly amiable at least; in England there seems something thuggish and nasty about it.

Good point zeppo … i guess it will be found out in time (hopefully); otherwise, we will simply be left with a big question mark.

My view on the wife’s part was a bit different though. I’d say she could have been involved in the abuse as well. As the abuser, not the abused. Because if she was a victim, I think she couldn’t have kept quiet all this time just on the basis of fear. Especially when her own daughter was involved (it was her daughter, wasn’t it?)

Your opinion is a bit more humane though. Hope you’ll be right on this one … :)

Perhaps the wife is an abuse victim as well and was beaten in to withdrawal so she was not asking questions. I don’t know. It still seems so unlikely.

Also, CNN has an article that says the dungeon is 50-60 square metres, which is over 500 square feet! How can someone build such a thing in his basement without people asking questions?!? – “yikes!” is all I can say right now.

To be honest, zeppo, I doubt that she did not know. True, the articles are saying it, but it is just the begining of the investigation and I am sure there are other things involved that just wait to be found.

Plus, like you said, it was four people locked in there; a bit improbable for the wife to neglect.

And concerning the injustice system, we are doing our best… but is it ever enough?

I don’t think that there is anything the criminal justice system can do here – usually it tries to fix people – just lock the guy away and never let him out.

The children will need counselling for years to deal with this.

Here is my question: How is it that the husband builds a multi-room dungeon in the basement and keeps four people in it for 24 years and the wife does not know? The news articles are all saying the wife did not know. I can’t believe this.
